Meet the dogs looking for home

Every dog is vet-checked, brought up to date, and matched carefully. Huskies are loyal, funny, and full of energy β€” and they need owners who get that.

Permanent residents

Ambassadors of the Husky House

Not every husky who comes through our door leaves again β€” and that's by design. Our Ambassadors are the dogs who found their forever home right here with us. They're the heart of the house and the welcoming committee for every new arrival: showing nervous fosters and adoptable dogs the ropes, the best nap spots, and how the pool works. This is pack life at the Husky House.

Meet the pack: Sasha, Ace, Duece, Nash, Nahnu, Buddy, and Butch β€” seven permanent residents, one very full house.

Already home. The Ambassadors are our permanent residents β€” they are not available for adoption. If you're looking for a husky to bring home, meet Greta, Maya, and Chanel in the Adoptable Dogs section above.

Butch

The smallest Husky ever

Every pack has one. Butch is a tiny, fluffy fraction of the size of the huskies he lives with β€” but nobody told him that, and nobody here is going to. He's a full-fledged Ambassador: permanent resident, head of couch patrol, and living proof that being a husky is a state of mind. Like the rest of the pack, Butch is already home β€” he is not available for adoption.

Adoption process

How adoption works

No pressure and no same-day impulse placements. We take a little time up front so the match lasts a lifetime.

1

Apply

Fill out the application below. Tell us about your home, schedule, fence, other pets, and husky experience.

2

Talk with us

We'll call to chat, answer questions honestly β€” including the hard parts of husky life β€” and check references.

3

Meet & greet

Meet the dog in El Sobrante. Bring the household, and any resident dog, so everyone can meet properly.

4

Trial & finalize

Start with a trial period at home. When it's right, we finalize the adoption and stay in touch for support.

Before you apply

Is a husky right for you?

Huskies are not low-maintenance dogs β€” and that's exactly why so many end up in rescue. The right home loves this list. The wrong home learns it the hard way.

  • Daily exercise & adventurePlan on 1–2 hours a day of walks, play, and mental work. A bored husky redecorates.
  • A truly secure fenceHuskies are escape artists. A tall, secure fence and a leash outdoors are non-negotiable.
  • Shedding β€” a lot of itDouble coats "blow out" twice a year. Expect fur on everything, forever.
  • Opinions, out loudHuskies talk, sing, and argue. Close neighbors and thin walls can be a problem.

Foster

Fostering saves the next dog, too

Every foster home we have is another husky we can say yes to. Fosters provide the couch, the routine, and the love β€” we cover the rest and support you the whole way.

  • We cover the costsFood, supplies, and vet care are covered by the rescue while a dog is in your care.
  • Short or long staysFrom a two-week decompression to fostering until adoption β€” tell us what you can do.
  • You help choose the adopterNobody knows the dog better than you do. Foster input shapes every placement.
  • Foster-to-adopt welcomeFalling in love is allowed. Fosters get first consideration to adopt their dog.

About us

A small rescue with a husky-sized heart

The Husky House of CA is a husky rescue based in El Sobrante, in Contra Costa County. Huskies are smart, dramatic, athletic, and deeply loyal β€” and they're also one of the breeds most often surrendered when their energy and needs surprise first-time owners.

We exist for that gap: taking in huskies and husky mixes, giving them time, training, and medical care in foster homes, and matching them with people who are ready for the real dog β€” fur, howls, muddy paws, and all.

Our registered legal name is Furry Friends Resuce Inc. β€” that's the name you'll see on official paperwork, adoption contracts, and donation receipts. "The Husky House of CA" is the name we're building our home under.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

We're in El Sobrante, CA (Contra Costa County, East Bay). Because our dogs live in foster homes rather than a kennel facility, visits and meet-and-greets are by appointment after an application. Call or text 510-205-8884 to talk first.
Huskies are beautiful β€” and famously demanding. High exercise needs, heavy shedding, escape artistry, and a lot of opinions mean they're surrendered at high rates by owners who weren't prepared. A breed-focused rescue matches them with homes that are.
Possibly, yes. We look for preparation more than a perfect rΓ©sumΓ©: a secure fence, an exercise plan, research into the breed, and honesty about your lifestyle. We'll talk it through with you β€” including if a different dog might be a better fit right now.
Nothing for the dog's care β€” the rescue covers food, supplies, and vet bills. You provide the home, routine, transport to appointments when you can, and lots of patience while your foster learns to be a house dog again.
Yes β€” same rescue. Furry Friends Resuce Inc. is our registered legal name, used on official documents and donation receipts. The Husky House of CA is the branding we're growing into, because huskies are what we do.
Call or text us at 510-205-8884. Intake depends on foster space, so we can't promise placement for every dog β€” but we'll talk through your situation honestly and help with options, timing, and resources where we can.
